The company was set up in 1989 and is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Warwickshire Wildlife Trust, which is itself part of The Wildlife Trusts, the largest voluntary organisation in the UK concerned with all aspects of nature conservation and the environment. As part of our regional growth strategy, we are looking to employ new staff in our Ecology Team to support our existing ecologists. In particular, we would welcome applications for the positions of Ecological Consultants and Ecological Project Officers to support our teams within the south of England (Eastleigh / Southampton area), and within our main Coventry office. We would however, also be pleased to receive prospective applications from suitable applicants at Ecological Consultant level and above across the wider southern region.
As a key member of the Ecology Team you will have the opportunity to grow within your role and dependent on experience, the role will involve project management and the undertaking of ecological surveys, consultation, assessment and mitigation in support of our clients’ proposals. You will help ensure that advice and recommendations resulting from these surveys are communicated effectively to clients through written reports and verbal communication. Skills and Experience Required
Your experience will be relevant to the role applied for, however ideally the successful candidate should possess:
- A first or upper second class degree in a relevant ecology/biology based subject and ideally a relevant postgraduate qualification;
- An ability to work under pressure and work unsociable hours;
- An enthusiastic attitude with a highly motivated and flexible approach; and,
- A full current driving licence.
Dependent on the location of the role applied for, we offer the opportunity to work from our existing main office in Coventry or from home as part of our small, flexible and friendly regional teams.
Holding personal protected species licences such as great crested newt and bat licences together with experience in preparing European Protected Species licence applications would be particularly advantageous (dependent on the role applied for).

Habitat Creation Consultant
The Habitat Creation Consultant is responsible to the Managing Director for implementing edaphic and hydro-ecological aspects of projects and contracts. The work includes: (i) assisting with the planning of consultancy projects; (ii) implementing and delivering projects; and (iii) assisting with other work of the company. The Habitat Creation Consultant is not responsible for the work of others.
Educated to degree level or MSc level in a relevant discipline or disciplines, you will need an understanding of Environmental consultancy work, ecological and biodiversity issues, Edaphic and Hydro-ecological surveying, habitat creation techniques and report writing and office systems.
You will need to show skills in Habitat Creation, Edaphic and Hydro-ecological survey skills, ideally including protected species. You will need to have organisational skills for both paper files and computer files, time management skills and excellent communication skills (both written and spoken). Professional work in the environment especially biodiversity and consultancy would be an advantage, as would experience in managing projects
