Step 1: Habitat Feasibility
To assess the suitability of a site for habitat creation a feasibility stage would consider some or all of the following elements:
- Site description / site history;
- Consultation with statutory and non-statutory organisations;
- Soils and near surface sediments;
- Hydrology; and,
- Site infra-structure.
This stage provides information with respect to the ‘opportunities and constraints’ that the site offers with respect to the habitat creation / enhancement. The study provides necessary information which can be used to inform input to Masterplanning exercises associated with the site development, planning applications, funding applications or the need for further works.
