Water Vole Habitat Creation at Kingsnorth Business Park, Kent

During the design process for a large-scale logistics business park development at Kingsnorth, Kent the requirement to include creative systems to take potentially extensive roof run-off was identified.

Goodman’s commitment to enhancing the site for water voles allowed the creation of approximately 800 m of water vole bank (using pre-planted coir rolls) and 1500 m of marginal and emergent planting within the development site.

The habitat will be managed in accordance with a management plan developed by Middlemarch Environmental and use of the habitats by target water vole species will be monitored for an agreed period of years.
