Warwickshire County Council needed to undertake repair works to the main road bridge over the river Anker in Polesworth. The bridge is a Grade II listed structure and a scheduled ancient monument.

Following Middlemarch’s survey, a large maternity colony of Daubentons bat was identified within the bridge structure, so Middlemarch obtained a licence to allow Warwickshire County Council to proceed with the necessary repair works.

The repair works completed, the bats returned to the bridge and continued using it as a maternity roost.
