Middlemarch was set up in 1989 and is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Warwickshire Wildlife Trust, which is itself part of The Wildlife Trusts, the largest voluntary organisation in the UK concerned with nature conservation and the environment. Based in Coventry, West Midlands, Middlemarch is one of the UK’s leading natural environment consultancies. Our expertise is called upon to address the many challenges that arise at the interface between nature and human society. Middlemarch is one of a UK-wide network of Wildlife Trust Consultancies (WTCs) delivering terrestrial and marine ecological services, biodiversity benchmarking, landscape architecture, arboriculture and habitat management services support at any scale, tailored to the local context. voluntary organisation in the UK concerned with all aspects of nature conservation and the environment.
The natural environment sector is experiencing the most significant shift in focus in over 30 years, driven by a range of factors including emerging legislation, unprecedented awareness of the global biodiversity crisis and the adoption of nature-based solutions (NBS) to environmental and societal challenges such as climate change, pollution and human health and well-being. To lead drive and support the delivery of our Biodiversity and NBS service response to these challenges, Middlemarch is about to commence a programme of exciting strategic growth with the aim of becoming the most trusted natural environment consultancy in the UK. Building on our great reputation and proven track record in our core service areas of ecological and arboricultural survey and assessment, we have already established significant expertise in emerging markets such as biodiversity net gain, habitat design and offset provision. To further our growth in these key areas, we are keen to receive applications from candidates with experience in a range of natural environment disciplines including:
- biodiversity net gain, including use of biodiversity metrics and design and delivery of net gain solutions;
- Natural capital and ecosystem services evaluation and advice;
- Habitat design and creation;
- Land management advice, particularly agri-environmental expertise;
- Biodiversity-focused landscape architecture; and,
- Geographic Information Systems expertise.
The package will include a competitive salary (dependent on experience and skills) with the potential for performance related rewards depending upon company performance, a company pension and an opportunity for continued professional development. Overtime and TOIL are also available.
