Middlemarch Environmental was involved in a heathland creation project with Birse Civils Ltd at the A3 Thursley Junction improvements development site.

The project involved the establishment of 8,500 m2 of lowland heathland habitat (a UK Biodiversity Action Plan priority habitat) together with management works within Thursley Common SAC. This was to compensate for the loss of 1500 m2 of SSSI habitat for the road development. Middlemarch undertook the following surveys required for reptiles; Development licence holder with regard to smooth snake, trap and translocate reptiles, monitoring for 5 years.
